No Resolutions, Just Simple Goals

If I were to have any resolutions, I would likely steal some from Jonathan Edwards.  In lieu of this, I have decided to merely stick with setting some personal goals for 2014.

Resolutions have often left me disenchanted and frustrated.  Perhaps this is because I would make ridiculous resolutions.  One was, read 34 books during my 34th year of life, which is a huge jump from the 12 or so I read per year.  Guess how that one worked out…

I’ll share a few of my goals with you for 2014:

1.  Lose 3 lbs / month for the year:  I need to lose about 40 lbs, and instead of trying another fad diet that helps me drop 10-20 lbs quickly, that I then bounce back up from, I have resolved to make increasing dietary changes over the course of the next year, believing that with an increase of water, more control over portion size, and increased exercise, I should be able to meet or exceed my 3lb/month goal.

2.  Read 2 Books Per Month:  Even though I re-learned how to read (I’m lysdexic for those of you who do not know), I still find myself at times averted to reading.  I enjoy reading the Bible, but I struggle to choose to read.  It’s usually the first priority to go.  Not so in 2014.

3.  Write More:  After my book, Tragedy to Truth, released in early 2013, I was tired of writing.  I know it’s not wise to neglect my ‘platform’, but I was just burned out from some difficult events that occurred in 2012.  I miss writing, and I hope to write more frequently.  I am working on re-writing Tragedy to Truth with a new editor, and hope to release the next edition in a few months.  The first edition was okay, but it can be a lot better.

There are several more, but those are more personal, so if I’m able to keep those goals, then I may share them later, but some are just sacred.

What are your goals/resolutions for 2014?  Leave a comment to share!
